In my 3rd year of school, I was task with an urban infill project. We were given a site and a pancake structure for a conceptual museum. Instead of thinking about programing and layout, with this project we were challenged with creating just a façade. My design focused around a "Hidden Garden" concept. This idea reflects on childhood curiosity and the wonder of exploration and discovery and how that parallels scientific exploration and discovery in the adult world as well. Elements like the centering arch tie the building to it's surroundings while the steel exterior frame and trellis creates a distinct and functional and modern façade. This façade design also cleverly makes use of several passive cooling and heating concepts.
